All together 171 participants had appeared - about 25 had not appeared to the registration at 15:30 o'clock. The mating in the last board was paired after registration end still afterwards, because both had been late something. This year is played by the big participant number in the Swiss advanced system, so that also already in the 1st round 2 titleholders could be confronted. The surprise of the 1st round was absolutely the defeat in board 4 of IM Drazen Muse against André Jaeger.

The 2nd round was fought up to the end in the boards 10 and 20, with the happier exits for the ELO-stronger. Also in the section NWZ Under 1900 a foreigner asserted himself for the first time with Dan Hronchekwith 4½ points. Besides, he played a strong tournament, nevertheless, he had to roll up the field from completely behind with No. 171, because he had appeared too late to the registration. Second became André Kunz with 4 points to which with a quick draw in the last round against his association companion Ingo Voigt everything placed on his good Buchholz, although he was already unlucky of course that with in the Drazen muse did not start a sure Buchholz spring because of illness any more to the last round. With a victory he would have won the evaluation with a Buchholz point projection.
